You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.™
The Lakers firing their coach after 5 games.
Mike Brown was fired after going 1-4.
1-4? They won 20% of their games. That’s bad, but not so bad. And with 77 games to go, with tons of time to turn things around, do you really fire a guy?
The Lakers did.
Here’s your walking papers dude. Huh? It’s just the first week. We were just finding our way.
See ya.
Wow. That’s like firing a football coach in the 4th quarter of the 1st game.
It’s like firing the Crew Chief of a NASCAR team on lap 20.
Patience.
Now Superstar Coach Phil Jackson is on the radar again.
He’s a champion 11 times over. He’s got rings for every finger, plus one. And he brings huge cache to the City of Angels where one of the premiere basketball teams exists and is expected to win.
Maybe it’s a great move. Maybe it’s premature. I don’t know. I’m just stunned that their coach got fired in 5 games.
That’s like you starting work on Monday, and by Friday, your boss calling you into the office to tell you you are sacked. But boss, you argue, I just figured out where my desk is and how to get my key card to work. Oh well, don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.
5 games into an 82 game season and the Lakers coach is fired. These are the Lakers. Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. I’m pretty sure they were going to be in the mix when it was all over, but in today’s gotta win now at all costs mentality, he got fired because they played crappy and lost 80% of their games.
Is it right? I don’t know. I wouldn’t want to be put under a 5 day pressure point. It’s a bit unfair. But that’s the NBA.
and that is crazy.™
