You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.™

Robin Roberts returns.
10 Days.
Roberts is the Good Morning America Anchor who got sick and has been off the show for months.
She is a morning news star, an almost iconic figure. Roberts is comfortable interviewing presidents, dignitaries and sports figures.
Her sickness was public. Her recovery has been a story of triumph.
So Saturday morning I see a promo that makes me a little sea sick. The promo says she is coming back.
10 Days.
I’m excited she is coming back, but the promos make me feel, well I’ll just say it, Creepy.
10 Days.
The promo features celebrity shout outs welcoming her back.
10 Days.
“Welcome back Robin Roberts”, they sing. “We love you,” They shout.
I like the positive energy. Knowing she has battled cancer, triumphed and is returning to the anchor chair is wonderful.
But the promo is a little disturbing. It’s as if the network is capitalizing on her sickness.
Somehow I realize it has a lot vested in Roberts. I realize it stuck with her through the tough times, but now it seems a little bit creepy.
She looks weak and bald and she still looks like a woman recovering from cancer. She is a champion for coming back. I just wish abc had found a more dignified way to welcome her home.
I like that they always mention her name when the show starts. I like that her fellow anchors say Robin is getting better. I like the vinettes I have seen where she is traveling to New Orleans.
10 days.
It feels like a publicity stunt.
Either way, welcome back Robin.
And that is crazy.™
