You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy!™
The National Buzz to giveTSA screeners more money.
Is more money going to make them do their job better? It is going to make them smarter? Is it going to make them caress your junk with a loving look? Maybe it will bring smarter people to the job, but really how smart do you have to be to stare at a screen and feel a guy up?
I realize that the focal point of terrorism seems to revolve around airports, but you know what? The “world is my oyster” when it comes to terrorism.
That means terrorism can happen anywhere any time.
Just because we made it through a security checkpoint, doesn’t mean we are safe.
Case in Point: Feds just busted a Somali born teen in PORTLAND who was allegedly masterminding a XMAS-tree-lighting bomb plot?
A van full of explosives in a crowded downtown area was part of his plan. It would have been devastating. Where was TSA on this one?
While airports and Xmas Trees are apples and oranges, or in this case frankincense and myrrh, I’m just not a big fan of throwing money at something for the sake of money fixes everything.
It doesn’t. It doesn’t work in sports when you bring Alex Rodriguez onto the Yankees and it doesn’t work in life.
If you want to throw money at something, throw it at teachers, so better people teach our kids. If you’re going to throw money at something, throw it at police officers to patrol your neighborhood to keep you safe.
According to FOX news, TSA screeners make $40,000 a year and more. Is that not a decent living by many standards?
How hard is it to say “next” and “is that a banana in your pocket or are you just excited to be next” or “excuse me while I cup my hand under your breast sir”
Based on what I am seeing; I think the terrorists have all ready won. Every time Americans cattle call their way through airports, I feel like we are Vanderbilt Football and we are going to Tuscaloosa to get our asses beat.
The terrorists in Afghanistan or wherever they hang their stockings, spent less than $5,000 dollars to send some C-4 on a cargo plane. I think they let us find it. They wanted us to be scared and over react the way Americans always do when the other guy takes our parking space.
Congratulations Al Quaida. You win again. American reacted on cue by throwing a billion dollars at this latest “what if scenario”
A billion dollars of screening and wanding and touching and pat downs and frustration and news coverage and …
enough all ready.
Some people say, the the only way to stop it all is to eliminate Al Quaida from the face of the planet.
Poof!
A nuclear night light in the sands of time.
But that comes with its own moral and spiritual ramifications.
Since that is really not an option, then America will have to maintain the sad: “the best offense is a good defense” mentality.
That means we’ll continue to wind our way through screening check points chock with with apprehension and anger.
But to pay the TSA more money? I say it’s crazy!
Some say profile more. Some say the Israelis have it figured out. They pay a handful of experts a lot of money to look into your eyes, into your soul and say, “Mohammad Johnson, please step over here for a moment.”
“Why are you flying with a one way ticket Mr. Bin Laden?”
Is profiling someone simply because of how they look or where they come from correct? Maybe. Maybe not.
Is it going to happen here? I doubt it.
Some say, privatize the TSA. It is after all the American way. Government workers are not exactly known for stream lining the process. I mean is the postal service running at maximum efficiency?
Maybe we should let the abc corporation run the check points. They’ll do it at a profit and they’ll do it efficiently, i can promise you that.
So Fly safe America. Grin and bear it. Don’t let the terrorists know they have won, and certainly let’s not give them the whole shooting match by deciding to pay TSA security people more than teachers and guys who work at Jiffy Lube.
And that is crazy.
