Losing trust.
Trust is the cable that holds up the bridge. Trust is the line that protects the quarterback. Trust is the foundation that keeps the house from caving in.
A relationship begins with lust. It evolves into love.
Trust is the fabric that weaves the two together. When trust disappears then the glue that holds the relationship together disintergrates.
I have a friend who has entered this phase of life. This person lives in the shadows wondering when the bridge is going to collapse. They look at the person who once stirred so much emotion and question how they got sacked. They wonder how love became a sink hole in the floor of the home’s foundation.
My friend watched the fabric come undone over time.
Trust takes a lifetime to build and a moment to destroy. When did it happen? Which incident was the final step off the cliff’s edge?
My friend still wants to believe in the fairytale, but has bitten the apple and fallen into a coma. When my friend awoke, and looked in the miror, this person of resolve and passion saw only a zombie staring back.
Life is a journey, it’s about seeking answers to an on slaught of questions.
You’ll never answer all the questions, but the peaceful end comes to the person who can answer enough of them.
For my friend, the loss of trust is a nauseating question that bangs the brain like a hammer slapping a nail.
Lack of trust makes my friend stare at the ceiling and count the different life paths that could have been chosen.
Night lasts forever when you stare at a ceiling without trust.
Trust.
When you have it, life is comfortable and easy. The questions are answered and you are at peace.
But when Trust is vanquished, destroyed in a bloody battle over time, well then everything kind of gets crazy.
I wish my friend well in this quest to answer the questions that seemingly have no answers.
And that is crazy!
