You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy™
Finding that elusive pot of Gold at the end of that magical rainbow.
Everyone has that dream. Some buy a lottery ticket and pray. Others hope they will accidentally fall into riches.
I’m here to tell you that the rainbow is out there, but it’s at the end of a long circuitous path where bricks are made of hard work, perspiration, desire, creativity, ingenuity, anticipation, and fortuitous execution.
Many don’t travel the path. It’s just too hard.
Others get on the path and get side tracked by life’s on going absurdity.
I’m on the path but how long I can maintain this pace is the question.
I look at the possibilities with frenzied Anticipation.
I am so ready for Life’s Crazy to become a household name, I can hardly wait.
The slow motion process of success is like a ketchup bottle, turned upside down, hovering over a steaming hot burger.
I’m longing and hoping for this ketchupy goodness to exit the bottle and slather that burger in deliciousness.
My mouth is watering, my stomach gurgling, my heart racing, wishing this dream would come true.
I want to bang the bottle, shake the bottle, force the deliciousness out of its containment vessel.
Sometimes banging the bottle, just hurts your hand.
LIFE’S CRAZY that way.
What started as a place to write my thoughts four years ago, quickly became a place to post my art. As many of you have realized, I haven’t missed a day since.
For me that was good enough. Write, create, express, vent. I was happy.
Since then I have had a quarter million hits on my 2 sites, www.andycordan.com and now www.lifescrazy.com.
What surprised me was demand for my brand.
It started with people asking for shirts. It started with people wanting the art on everything from posters to iphone covers.
I find it easy to write a blog. I’m finding it is much more challenging to bring a brand to the world.
I have recently taken some amazing strides. I have met with two powerful and talented men who are captains of industry in their respective fields.
Both men told me that Life’s Crazy has tremendous potential “almost by accident,” one of the men said.
That man shocked me when he said, my company would one day employ many people here in Nashville.
If this man wasn’t so well respected in the global business community, I might have laughed in his face. I wanted to look over my shoulder and see if he was talking to the other business guy in the room behind me.
What does he see that perhaps I don’t see, I wondered to myself.
I kept my cool and just shook my head as if I too saw this vision.
“Your URL alone, lifescrazy.com, has major value,” the other power broker of branding and internet innovation said to me.
Wow! What have I got here? I think to myself.
These men have lit a fuse in me that I didn’t know I had. They have sparked a business fuse to translate creativity into profitability.
You have a product that people seem to want, one of the business men said. The question is how do you get your product to them? he questions aloud.
I told him I feel like I have a reservoir of ideas, but I just can’t open the flood gates to get the product easily to people, to their homes, their stores, or their computers.
He suggests selling Life’s Crazy products right from my web site with a big buy button next to each story. Read a story, like the art, click on the buy button. Own a crazy shirt, iphone, poster. Just that easy he says. There are businesses that will handle all that for you. You are not that far away from doing that, he tells me, enticing me, making me wish he would just wave his magic business wand and make it happen for me.
We talk about the need to drive more visitors to the site. We talk about the need to interface with facebook and twitter. We talk about seeking out compatible companies that are similar but stagnating, companies that might be infused by a crazy burst of what I have to offer.
Like most of you. I all ready have a full time job. Writing every night and every morning takes a tremendous amount of time and effort. Creating over 800 new and unique pieces of art takes the patience of a monk in a monestary. Now on top of that, I have to put on a 3rd hat, perhaps the most important hat of all, a business hat.
I was hoping these men of amazing talents and success could take me to the pot of gold. They haven’t done that. But they have put me on the path to a vista where I can now see the rainbow.
Like anything worth doing, anything great, I will have to walk that path myself. I will have to earn it, to learn it, to live it.
When I reach the rainbow, when I know I have arrived, I will turn back and look at the path, knowing that the journey was half the fun.
Then I will touch the rainbow, feel it’s electric glow and commence with a journey that many of you are sharing with me step by step.
