You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.™
Time.
Tick tock. Watch the clock.
Time is passing us by. I don’t have enough time. Out of time. Time out. Time of our life.
Imagine time as currency. We don’t normally think of time as currency. We normally think of time as time, something that just is.
You’re born, you die, and you live your life in between.
Time passes. It is constant. It is finite. You only have so much time.
I’m watching a movie; IN TIME. It’s Intriguing. Justin Timberlake is the star.
The premise: You turn 25 and you have a year to live. From that moment, every minute elapses is a minute less to live. When your time clock expires so do you. But you can obtain time by taking it from others. Some people get hundreds of years and considered very rich. Others have a few hours and they are destitute and very poor.
The whole idea is time = currency. Time is money.
You need to pay your rent, you give some of your time. You want a ham sandwich, you pay with time. That time comes off your life clock which is constantly counting backward to death.
Let’s make a toast. A glass of fine wine might cost you a decade.
How much does a night here cost Timberlake asks the hotel clerk.
1 night costs 2 months, the clerk responds.
I’ll take the luxury suite he says.
1 night in the luxury suite will cost you a year, the clerk responds.
He puts put out his arm and they deduct the time from his life clock and he moves on.
He buys a classic Jag. 59 years. He puts out his arm and they deduct it from his life. It’s the equivalent of opening your wallet.
He goes to a poker game and bets a century of time on an inside straight. He wins, and he suddenly has 100 years to live.
Now he is rich with tons of time. But when you have more time, people want your time. Suddenly gangsters chase him down to steal his time. It’s like winning the lottery and gluing 1000 dollar bills to your forehead. You attract attention.
What a premise. Time is currency. Time is life.
A hooker tells a potential john she’ll give him ten minutes for an hour. What a great line.
How much is your time worth. In her case, ten minutes of her time is worth an hour of yours.
Time lenders are like banks. They give you time and you promise to pay it back with interest which is time.
Instead of robbing banks, they rob time vaults.
Like Robin Hood Timberlake gives to the poor, people whose time clocks are about to expire. It’s a soup kitchen but instead of soup they line up for more time.
The moral of the story; make every second count. Because when you’re out of time you’re out of time.
Timberlake often has no more than a few hours to live in this film. He often says, you can do a lot in a day.
That’s a great line. Think about your day. The time you have available to you today. Your time clock is also ticking backward. Are you making the most of the time you have today? It might be your last day?
Unless you happen to steal more time.
And that is crazy.™
