You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.™
Getting arrested in Music City. It’s a forgiving city and you really have to booze it to lose it.
When they say you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here, they really mean it.
That’s why a California cop is so stupid.
Monday night, the Culver City detective got busted for public intoxication.
Now getting ass-faced in NashVegas is not uncommon. In fact, at Tootsies Orchid Lounge, it’s kind of the unofficial motto.
And with 20 honky tonks in a five block radius it is easy to celebrate to the point that that your sweat ducts become tiny alcohol dispensers.
But a cop should know better. And unlike Sin City, what happens in Nashville doesn’t always stay in Nashville.
Culver City Detective Ryan Thompson learned that the hard way.
According to arrest affidavits, the 33 year old veteran was outside a bar banging on the windows and trying to sneak into the kitchen through a door in the back alley.
WTF dude?
Haven’t you heard of going home? You’re a cop, don’t you understand what it takes to make people call 911?
So the Nashville cops arrive and they take one look at dude and they determine he is wobbly, slurring, and basically all F***ed up!
They throw him in the back of the squad car and begin taking him to the jail house where he will be charged with misdemeanor Public Intoxication.
But along the way, the Southern California cop gets stupider and allegedly threatens the Nashville Officer’s family.
“I can’t wait to get a hold of your son,” Thompson reportedly said.
“You threatening my family,” the Nashville cop asks while they are parked in the sally port under the jail.
“No,” Thompson says, “But I’m going to F*** them up.” The arrest papers say.
Based on that, the Nashville law man tosses the liquored up cop into the drunk tank.
I called the officer’s Culver City Lieutenant who laughed when I told him that people tend to over do it in Nash-vegas.
” Law enforcement officers are expected to use good judgment and act professionally at all times,” a press release sent to me later will read.
The cop bonded out of jail this morning and court documents indicate that his charges of public intoxication will be dismissed.
I see a lot of drunks in Nashville. It comes with the territory. But let this be a lesson to you.
When they throw you out of your first bar and don’t call cops, consider that a get out of jail free card.
Go home.
Now the embarrassed officer is heading back to Southern California where he is going to get a spanking from his boss.
And that is crazy.™
