You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.™
Olympic sized Murder.
Oscar Pistorias.
You might not know the name, but you assuredly remember the image.
Pistorias is the double legged amputee who strapped fiberglass blades to his legs and then ran like a kangaroo hopping from a brush fire.
He was a wonderful story. A triumph of the human spirit.
He didn’t so much as glide, as propel himself around the track.
It was hard not to root for Oscar Pistorias.
A little boy whose legs were amputated at such an early age. Then a man who overcame a lifetime struggle just to walk, to run, to win gold. Now he is going to have perhaps the biggest fight of his life.
The Olympian is charged with murder of his girlfriend, a South African model.
The couple was handsome, a fixture on the red carpet.
The police have charged the man known as blade runner with shooting the blonde beauty.
Some say crime is rampant in South Africa and he made a mistake when he shot her, thinking she was an intruder.
The police say differently, saying the two often quarreled.
It is a terrible story, such a juxtaposition of worlds. One day on top of the Olympic podium, looked up to by millions. Now he is an accused murderer, sobbing into his handcuffed hands in court.
Could it be the same guy?
“I am the bullet in the chamber” was on his web site endorsed by Nike.
Woops. Today that was taken down.
His world is crumbling.
She is dead. If he did it, they should take his blades and let him rot on the prison floor. But if he is innocent and somehow this is a misunderstanding, well then Blade Runner will over come as he has done his whole life.
And that is crazy™.
