You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.
Saint Bernard.
As in Steven St. Bernard.
He’s the NYC bus driver who heaven placed in the right place at the right time.
All he did was catch a 7 year old girl who fell off a 3 story building.
The father of four was walking by the Brooklyn apartment building when he saw the girl playing on top of the air conditioner.
What are the odds? Why was she up there?
She was swaying back and forth, dancing, as if she didn’t have a care in the world.
Bernard gets in position under the air conditioner and swayed with her.
Thank God 52 year old St. Bernard was there.
“It was either let her fall and be injured for the rest of her life or catch her.”
That simple. Let her die. Or save her life.
If only everything in life was so simple, so black and white. Live or Die.
The father of four says he got in position and like Johnny Bench turning on a pop fly, he did the unbelievable. He caught a human falling to the Earth.
And this craziness is caught on tape as she tumbles 30 feet off the building like a little rag doll.
Wearing a sling on his left arm he tells a gathering of news crews he did what he had to do.
“She landed on my chest with my arms extended when we went down,” he says matter of factly.
“It tore a tendon in my bicep is all. It’s no big deal. Its minor. Isaved a little girl.”
Just like that. He saved a little girl.
He was thanked by the little girls mother and though he has been called a hero, he doesn’t he is one.
He may not be a hero, but he s certainly a saint.
The littler girl wasn’t hurt either.
Wow.
Just when you think the world is going to hell in a hand basekt, a bus driver with a big heart and excellent hand eye coordination restores your faith in humanity.
And that is crazy.
