You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy.™
People busting on an old man’s dreams.
Tuesday, ESPN apologized for remarks made by 73 year old broadcaster Brent Musburger.
If you believe Twitter; what he said was more inappropriate than grade school kids giving Hugh Hefner a sponge bath.
Others say the iconic sportscaster was right on the money just speaking the truth.
It happened during the BCS national championship game.
The cameras zoomed in on the Bama QB’s girlfriend.
The dazzling smile, and brilliant eyes and flowing brown hair filled the screen like a Picasso painting on a wall.
Musburger has been broadcasting most of his life. It’s not like it was a gotcha moment.
This venerable golden throated orator had a lot of options at this point. He knows what to say and when to say it. Instead he inserted his foot in his mouth.
He easily could have said “and there is Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama and the girlfriend of quarterback AJ McCarron.”
It would have been factual and the game would have moved on.
Instead, Musburger proved he still has blood flowing to his man parts and he verbally unloaded.
“Wow, I’m telling you-you quarterbacks, you get all the good
looking women. What a beautiful woman.”
He was gushing, like he had a senior moment.
He could have stopped there. But it’s as if Musburger had been smoking bath salts and he kept blabbering on in front of 24 million people.
“Wow. If you boys want to meet good looking women you should start playing catch in the backyard.”
The moment was memorable if only for how inappropriate it might have been.
Musburger said what every breathing American male was thinking at that very moment.
The difference was, the professional broadcaster was less
than professional. He was hard wired to the globe and the globe quickly voiced its opinion.
The twitter sphere blew up.
One woman wrote: “can’t decide what’s making me change channels, the blowout potential, ref bias, or Brent Musburger’s creepy sexist comments.”
ESPN released a statement: “we always try to capture interesting story lines and the relationship between and Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However we apologize for the commentary that in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.”
The hottie told the AP the comments didn’t bother her.
“It was kind of nice” she said. “I didn’t look at it as creepy at all. For a woman to be called beautiful, I don’t see how that’s an issue,” she added.
Webb’s Twitter rating went through the roof with 140,000 new followers.
Donald Trump called and wants her to judge the next Miss America broadcast.
The unknown beauty can thank the old broadcaster for her sudden rocket ride to stardom for that too.
And that’s crazy.™
