You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy!
A man without a girlfriend who uses a mathematical equation to explain why he has no girlfriend.
Most of us losers don’t need an abacus to explain our problems attracting the opposite sex. Usually our deficiency is right out there in the open for all to see.
I’m fat. I drink to much. I have the body aroma of seaweed.
But mathematical excuses? It sounds like something dreamed up by geeks at a Star Wars convention.
In reality; it’s the brain child of a professor in England. His paper compares meeting women to finding life in another galaxy.
This lady-loser is none other than Peter Backus. He is a teaching Fellow studying in London. He’s not bad looking, so you wonder why a thesis? Is he just arrogant?
His premise: Why I don’t have a girlfriend :An application of the Drake Equation of love in the UK.
Huh?
The Drake Equation of love?
Here’s the complicated version: The Drake Equation was developed in 1961 by Dr. Frank Drake at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in West Virginia.
It reads N = R* x Fp x Ne x Fi x Fc x L, and helped predict that there could be 10,000 civilizations in our galaxy.
SESAME STREET VERSION: Backus is a dweeb. Women hate dweebs.
Backus’ thesis takes forever to predict that losers like himself will not be able to score with a super model.
Who needs the Drake Equation. My 6th grader could predict that.
Backus wrote “The results are not encouraging. The probability of finding love in the UK is only about 100 times better than the probability of finding intelligent life in our galaxy.”
What that means is. You go to a speed dating seminar. You meet with 100 women. You don’t click with any of them. Then the 101st woman takes the seat before you. You see a gleam in her eye and realize she has 5 arms and her mailing address is a quazar in Alpha Centuri. Is that love? Or is it probability?
According to published reports: The 30-year-old Backus found that of the 30 million women in the UK, only 26 would be suitable girlfriends for him.
30 million woman and only 26 meet his lofty standards? Who does this guy think he is? Brad Pitt?
In the paper Backus summarized that on a given night out in London there is a 0.0000034 percent chance of meeting a woman that meets his criteria and who is also interested in him. That makes his odds of finding a girlfriend only about 100 times better than finding an alien.
This would explain Backus constant need for cold showers.
and that is crazy!
