You Know What’s Crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy
Life without living, is crazy! – Andy Cordan
I was playing tennis with a friend the other day. In the course of one set, he told me about 2 of his friends who had passed away.
Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today. ~James Dean
Between points, my friend kept talking about their deaths, and the profound effect it had on him. I could tell it was bothering him. I didn’t know these people, but by most accounts they were young, in their 50’s. I must admit, they’re passing did grab my attention.
Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. Charles Richards.
If you think about it, Life should be kicking into another wonderful gear at age 50. Fifty is not the end, it should be the begining.
Enjoy yourself. It’s later than you think. ~Chinese Proverb
I don’t know these people at all, but I wonder if they died happy. I wonder if they died feeling fulfilled. I wonder if, like the rest of us, death came at a very inopportune time, leaving them with so much unfinished business.
Sometimes I feel like a grocery clerk ringing up life at the supermarket. Milk, and eggs and cheese on the conveyor belt of existence. Then the next customer comes and its the same thing. Milk and eggs and cheese on the conveyor belt. Then the next customer, and so it goes. Life is like this grocery store conveyor belt, running and running and running, but never getting anywhere.
If you let life be monotonous, life will be monotonous. – Andy Cordan.
I told my friend that his friends’ deaths are sad because I am sure they had plans for tomorrow. They were going to start putting more $ into their 401K account. They were going to plan for that cruise to the Caribbean they always dreamed of. Maybe they were unhappy in their relationship and they planned to divorce that tired spouse and marry the soul mate they met at the Laundromat.
Whatever!
The idea is they still had so much left to do.
Life is a ride you only get to ride once. – Andy Cordan
If you don’t live life to its maximum, then one day 2 guys on a tennis court will be talking about your death wondering if you ever really lived.
Live every day as if it were your last and then some day you’ll be right. – H.H. Morant
And there it is in a nutshell. Did you really live your life? or did you just go through the motions of life. Did you live for yourself? or did you live for others, living the life they set before you?
They talk about people having mid-life crisis’ like this is a disease. Why wouldn’t you have a mid-life crisis? This is life’s alarm bell waking you up from a long hibernation and asking you a simple fundamental question: Is this all there is?
Am I suppose to do more? What am I waiting for?
Go for it now. The future is promised to no one. ~Wayne Dyer
If your bucket list has no check marks, then think of those 2 men in their graves.
The man in the grave has no 2nd chances, no do overs.
Like a fire cracker, life only explodes once, and then it is gone. A single POP in the fabric of humanity. Unless you amplify that POP, it will not be heard among the indistinguishable, tiny, mundane POPS going on all around you.
Make a sound! Make the effort.
If you dare to dream, then dare to live. – Andy Cordan
As my buddy and I finished our game, I thought about the journey we are all on.

None of us is sure where it is going or when it will end, so maximize the time you have left.
Every man dies. Not every man really lives. ~Braveheart
