You know what’s crazy? I’ll tell you what’s crazy!
Extreme preaching.
A priest on a skate board. It’s like the X games of religion.
Hey, I’m all about promoting your message, but on a skateboard?
Here in the bible belt, the newspaper is filled with advertising for Sunday Worship services.
The local news is loaded with commercials inviting me to join the congregation.
A commercial is one thing. But none of these pastors is hang gliding for Jesus. There’s a difference.
I realize, the more people who go to church, the better the chance those people will get the holy spirit in their lives.
But saving souls is only part of the story.
I’ve never been in a church where at some point they don’t pass the collection plate around.
Obviously the more people who touch that plate, the more dollars that will end up in the offering.
I won’t say that money is the main reason to increase church attendance, but I will say that if you are a good promoter you have a good chance to spread your message to a maximum number of souls.
With that said:
DATELINE: London
Check out this Catholic priest. Instead of a pulpit, he uses a skateboard to capture the attention of his audience, who might then be more receptive to his message of faith.
Zoltan Lendavi is from Hungary. He is a priest with a schtick. Skateboard, preach and go viral.
I can’t tell what the priest is saying, but tens of thousands of people have viewed this religious X games.
According to published reports; the 45-year-old said his unusual methods were a way of getting teenagers to come back to church.
“There are many ways skateboarding can help bring people closer to God,” he said, adding that three teenage boys who never before came to church before now regularly attended Mass.
Lendavi said he was inspired by Saint Don Bosco, who used games to engage young people in nineteenth-century Italy.
The only thing this skate boarding man of the cloth is guilty of is being energized about his job.
So if a priest can skateboard and be a youtube sensation, tt makes me wonder what else you could preach through YouTube.
How bout that squirrel that water skis. That’s a huge internet hit. Maybe if the squirrel was holding a cross, it could be promoted as skiing for Jesus. Maybe that would get more animal lovers back to church.
Whatever it takes right?
and That’s crazy!
